Ed Clark, President and Chief Executive Officer

Ed Clark was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of TD Bank Financial Group on December 20, 2002. Prior to this appointment, he was President and Chief Operating Officer, a role he held since July 2000.

Following TD's acquisition of Canada Trust Financial Services in February of 2000, Ed joined TD Bank Financial Group as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TD Canada Trust. In this role he oversaw the successful integration of the TD and Canada Trust banking operations. Before joining TDBFG, Ed was President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Trust Financial Services.

In 1985, he joined Merrill Lynch, and three years later was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Financial Corporation, a position he held until he joined Canada Trust Financial Services Inc. in 1991. From 1974 to 1984, Ed held a number of senior positions in the federal government.

Ed graduated from the University of Toronto in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned his Master's degree and Doctorate in Economics from Harvard University in 1971 and 1974 respectively. Ed has also received honorary degrees from Mount Allison University and Queen’s University.

Ed serves as Chairman of the Board of TD Bank US Holding Company and its subsidiary banks, and also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Board of TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation. He is the 2010 Chair of the United Way for the Greater Toronto Area, a member of the Board of Directors of the C.D. Howe Institute, a member of the Chair's Advisory Council for Habitat for Humanity Toronto, and provides support to Woodgreen Community Services, an organization that delivers programs to build sustainable communities in the Toronto area. In 2010, he was appointed to the Order of Canada – one of the country’s highest distinctions – for his “contributions to Canada’s banking and financial industry, and for his voluntary and philanthropic endeavours”.

Ed and his wife Fran make their home in Toronto. They have four grown children.

Colleen Johnston, Chief Financial Officer

Colleen Johnston is Group Head Finance and Chief Financial Officer, TD Bank Financial Group. Colleen has primary responsibility for all aspects of external and regulatory financial reporting, performance measurement and optimization including capital allocation, investor and rating agency relations, interest and liquidity risk management, and tax management. The Audit function also reports to Colleen on an administrative basis.

Colleen joined TD in March 2004 as Executive Vice President, Finance Operations, and in November 2005 she became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer,TD Bank Financial Group.

Prior to joining TD Colleen spent 15 years with Scotiabank, where she served as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer for Scotia Capital; Vice President, Domestic Comptroller for Scotiabank; and Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Scotiatrust. She began her career in 1982 with Price Waterhouse.

Colleen graduated from York University in 1982 with a bachelor of business administration degree and received her chartered accountant designation in 1984.

Colleen is currently the Volunteer Chair and President of the Heart and Stroke Foundation Board of Directors and Past Chair of the ShareLife Corporate Campaign. She was also a member of the Campaign Steering Committee of Bridgepoint Health, where she was previously a board member and served as Chair for three years. Colleen is actively involved in promoting diversity in the workplace as chair of TD’s Women in Leadership Committee.

In 2006, Colleen was elected as a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), the highest designation conferred by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, recognizing outstanding career achievements and dedication to community activities.

Colleen currently resides in Toronto with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys travelling, reading and cottage life.

Riaz Ahmed, Group Head

As Group Head, Corporate Development, Enterprise Strategy and Treasury, Riaz is responsible for the bank’s overall strategy, overseeing treasury and balance sheet management activities and seeking out possible acquisition opportunities.

Before joining corporate development in 2004 Riaz held a variety of roles in Wholesale Banking, serving as Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer, overseeing finance, technology and risk operations infrastructure prior to which he was Managing Director of the Government and Infrastructure Investment Banking Team.

Before joining TD in 1996, Riaz was Vice President, Structured Finance at Citibank of Canada, after having worked at Financial Trustco/Morgan Financial.

In his spare time, Riaz is a dedicated community volunteer. He currently serves as Chairman of the Aga Khan Economic Planning Board of Canada, an organization, which among other things assists new immigrants to enhance their economic status in Canada. He has also worked with a number of non-profit organizations over the last 20 years.

Riaz received his Chartered Accountant certification with Coopers & Lybrand in 1985 and has a B. Comm (with Distinction) from the University of Calgary.

Riaz and his wife live in Oakville and have two children.
